The introduction didn't seem really like a introduction to me and I didn't quite get what it was introducing...I guess more the point of prophets and the visions and dreams...
I don't really read the introduction and preface... most times it is not written my EGW anyway, and is not always helpful to me about the book. (Just my 2cts!)
well, since I haven't read it yet (today did not go right at all so I got not reading time) I guess I feel like I'm not missing much! thanks guys for your inputs :)
i've read part way thru the introduction, and now I have to say that I am enjoying it. those of you reading this, please pray that i will find a way to stick to this reading list. i WANT to do it, and I know the devil doesn't want us to. i'm having such a hard time keeping up with it. thanks.
I'm praying for you Anita and for the rest of the ladies that have and hope to still join us! I don't know if you have seen or can get a hold of a copy of "Meet Ellen White" DVD. We watched it at our last WOW meeting and it really helped open my eyes to what a powerful prophet Ellen White truly was and how God used her. Really powerful. Also, once you get past the introduction, I found the reading a lot more interesting and was actually having a hard time putting it down.
Let me know what I can do to help you stay on task. Do you want me to email you every so often or call you? For me, I found accountability by making myself write something here for every section I read. It was what helped me read through the whole Bible. Near the end I was just writing down my thoughts in a notebook as I read along and never finished typing them over to the blog. But never the less it helped. Also, I would read right after the kids would go to bed and wouldn't allow myself to do anything else for 20 minutes then I could stop if I wanted to do chores or watch a show on TV. Sometimes I would read before bed, but typically found myself not staying focused and would fall asleep.
For those who will be reading through the Conflict of Ages Series, here is a place for you to post comments and questions about your readings.
The Conflict of Ages Series consists of the following books by Ellen White: vol 1 Patriarchs and Prophets (PP) vol 2 Prophets and Kings (PK) vol 3 The Desire of Ages (DS) vol 4 The Acts of the Apostles (AA) vol 5 The Great Controversy (GC)
Our reading schedule is set M-F, allowing the weekend time to catch up or to have a break from reading. The schedule is to read 10 pages a day. We plan to have read through the entire series in a little over a year.
All books can be found online to read for free at: http://www.whiteestate.org/books/books.asp
Or you can download mp3 audio for free at: http://www.ellenwhiteaudio.org/home.php

ReplyDeleteI agree with you Jenn, I didn't really see how it was relevant. I didn't realize it might not be written by EGW.
